Globe Telecom plans upgrade to 50GPON after pilot test

Philippine telco Globe Telecom says it recently held a successful pilot test of 50GPON, which it hopes will not only boost the user experience for its fibre broadband service, but also unlock other potential use cases for enterprises.

The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has agreed to fund a feasibility study for a plan to extend AFR-IX Telecom’s Medusa subsea cable along Africa’s western coastline.
