Global air travel has significantly increased in the last few years. Airlines in the Asia-Pacific saw a relatively slower recovery from the global pandemic. However, regional travel in those areas has picked up tremendously since 2022. The busiest international airline route 2024 was between Hong Kong (HKG) and Taipei (TPE), with 6.8 million seats. It is two places up from the year before. The last time this route secured the top position was in 2019. Despite the 48% growth since 2023, the numbers are still approximately 15% lower than 2019.
