Air India has ordered up to 34 single-engine and twin-engine aircraft to train pilots at its upcoming Flying Training Organization (FTO) in Amravati, Maharashtra. The facility is set to open in the second half of 2025, after regulatory approval.

Heading into 2026, Air India continues to operate an incredibly diverse fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft with narrowbodies and widebodies from the European planemaker, and widebodies from the American planemaker. There are 187 aircraft in the mainline fleet with another 100-plus additional jets with regional subsidiary Air India Express. The mainline fleet has grown significantly since our last fleet video on Air India, largely thanks to the acquisition of Vistara and the absorption of its fleet into Air India’s operations.
