SpaceSail, a Chinese low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite company, has signed an agreement to enter the Brazilian market. The signing took place during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent state visit to the capital, Brasilia.
Satellite operator Viasat says it has completed another demo of its direct-to-device (D2D) technology in Brazil – this one using consumer smartphones – following last month’s D2D demo for connected cars.
LEO satellite operator Starlink has received a temporary permit to operate in Tonga in an apparent retreat by the government who had earlier banned the service outright as residents sought to cope with last month’s subsea cable outage.
