54 Years Since Its First Flight: A Guide To The McDonnell Douglas DC-10’s Main Variants

This year marks the 54th anniversary of the McDonnel Douglas DC-10's maiden flight. The trijet took to the skies for the first time on August 29, 1970. Intended to succeed the DC-8 for range and passenger capacity, the DC-10 entered service with American Airlines in August 1971. THe manufacturer built more than 400 examples of the widebody aircraft over a 20-year production period.
