While many airport sites have existed for several decades, others have not had that long of a life. This can be a result of several factors, such as demand, growth, and geography. However, many closed airports have suffered from being too small and unable to accommodate the influx of passengers, which has contributed to the growth of the aviation industry. Although it may be unfortunate to see an airport close, some cities around the world have found innovative ways to redevelop the sites, while remembering their origin.
