After border restrictions were eased in Australia, domestic traffic quickly shot back to around 90% of pre-pandemic levels, but international traffic limped along for months, with little competition and unusually high ticket prices depressing the market. The arrival of Vietjet in April 2023 changed all that, as the Vietnamese carrier committed more than one million dollars to establish a market in Australia.
