Low-cost carrier Air India Express has collaborated with a travel solutions technology company to develop its first virtual interline platform. This platform will help the carrier partner with other airlines for interline agreements and offer its passengers more connecting options.

Heading into 2026, Air India continues to operate an incredibly diverse fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft with narrowbodies and widebodies from the European planemaker, and widebodies from the American planemaker. There are 187 aircraft in the mainline fleet with another 100-plus additional jets with regional subsidiary Air India Express. The mainline fleet has grown significantly since our last fleet video on Air India, largely thanks to the acquisition of Vistara and the absorption of its fleet into Air India’s operations.
