Inland Rail’s plans to stretch across regional NSW have taken another step forward after having a 37-kilometer section between Illabo and Stockinbingal approved.
The disaster was big news. There was huge public interest, and the press followed the rescue, the inquiry, the funerals, the manslaughter trial and the compensation awards made.
NSW and WA last week joined all but Tasmania and the Northern Territory – which have had ministerial changes – in signing up to a new five-year funding deal with strict rules around spending and reporting.
