Tony Abbott said “Tony Burke needs to begin his role as immigration minister with an apology for his poor performance under the former Labor government.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I think a full account of what he did wrong then and how it\u2019s going to be different now, and what he\u2019s learnt from the successful management of our borders by the intervening Coalition government.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Without an apology for the poor performance of the former Labor government given that he was one of the poorest of the poor performers amongst those immigration ministers, it\u2019s going to be very hard to take him seriously.”<\/p>\n\n\n
