{"id":9834,"date":"2024-02-09T07:17:31","date_gmt":"2024-02-08T21:17:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/?p=115287"},"modified":"2024-02-09T07:17:31","modified_gmt":"2024-02-08T21:17:31","slug":"the-ara-and-national-women-in-transport-seek-gender-diversity-information-for-research-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=9834","title":{"rendered":"The ARA and National Women in Transport seek gender diversity information for research project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ara.net.au\/\">Australasian Railway Association<\/a> (ARA) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenintransport.gov.au\/\">National Women in Transport<\/a> are calling upon anyone working in the rail industry to contribute to significant research to help close the gender gap in rail and create a more sustainable workforce for the future.<\/strong><span id=\"more-115287\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Gender Diversity in Rail research project, led by independent consultants Diversity Partners, is asking women and mixed-gender rail employees in Australia and New Zealand to consider registering for one of six online focus groups of 15 people, held for 1.5 hours between Monday February 12 to Friday 16.<\/p>\n<p>All rail employees of any gender are also asked to complete a short, confidential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/FZLTQXB\"><strong>survey<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0before it closes on 21 February and to also consider making a written submission on overcoming current challenges and\u00a0developing future opportunities for gender diversity in rail.<\/p>\n<p>The Gender Diversity in Rail research aims to better understand the challenges hindering greater gender diversity in rail and develop initiatives aimed at achieving gender parity\u00a0across all facets\u00a0of the rail industry.<\/p>\n<p>It encompasses both the Australia and New Zealand rail industry, and has three key objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To thoroughly investigate the barriers and challenges hindering women\u2019s entry, retention and progression in the rail industry;<\/li>\n<li>To promote awareness of the benefits and advantages of gender parity and fostering female leadership within the rail industry;<\/li>\n<li>To explore best practice initiatives and make recommendations that support greater gender diversity in rail and enable more professional opportunities for women, including in leadership roles.
