{"id":979,"date":"2023-01-19T06:00:29","date_gmt":"2023-01-18T20:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?guid=f0289f0801964e58c4e869427f8ba3d6"},"modified":"2023-01-19T06:00:29","modified_gmt":"2023-01-18T20:00:29","slug":"extra-buses-on-wellington-streets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=979","title":{"rendered":"Extra buses on Wellington streets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Metlink is taking measures to ease\u00a0overcrowding on Wellington&#8217;s buses, including bringing in charter buses to run extra services. <\/p>\n<p>Wellingtonians have been struggling to catch crowded buses to work over the past two weeks, as Metlink operates on a sparse timetable usually reserved for weekends.<\/p>\n<p>The timetable will continue at a reduced level until January 28 , but additional services will now be added to prevent the overcrowding seen in the last few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Acting general manager Tim Shackleton said the extra buses would help people head back to work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are doing everything we can to make sure operators are allocating larger vehicles to the hardest hit routes to ease any overcrowding,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Metlink is taking measures to ease\u00a0overcrowding on Wellington&amp;#39;s buses, including bringing in charter buses to run extra services.
