The agreement for MSC\u2019s takeover of the former W\u00e4rstila site in Trieste was officially signed at the Ministry of Made in Italy on 29 July. Moreover, the Friuli Venezia Giulia region will allocate 15 million euros to improve rail connectivity in the area.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>In addition to the 15 million euros mentioned above, the region will also co-finance 15 more million euros with the Italian state for further investments in the area. For this initiative, MSC created a new company, called InnoWay, which will operate in the facility formerly used by Finnish ship engine manufacturer W\u00e4rtsila.<\/p>\n

The site will be reconverted into a rolling stock production plant. Once operative, the new facility will start production of rail freight wagons and bogies. First estimations claim that 1,000 wagons and 3,000 bogies<\/a> will be built every year. With the signing of the agreement, the procedure of transferring the employees, who have been under a Redundancy Fund since at least last August, can start. Over the next 36 months<\/a>, 261 workers formerly employed by W\u00e4rtsila will be transferred to MSC\u2019s newest subsidiary InnoWay.<\/p>\n
