This Payroll Giving Month, Railway Mission<\/a> is asking people to support the vital work carried out by its chaplaincy team by setting up a regular donation through their salaries. <\/p>\n

With Payroll Giving<\/a>, donations to Railway Mission are taken from supporters\u2019 pay on a monthly basis, and before income tax is deducted. This means that the charity receives more money at no extra cost to the giver, and is simple to set up.<\/p>\n

Donations help the charity\u2019s chaplains to offer face-to-face, year-round support, especially during an individual\u2019s time of loneliness, stress, depression, bereavement or illness.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery year, more and more individuals rely on our chaplaincy team for pastoral support, often in times of extreme personal distress,\u201d explained Liam Johnston, Railway Mission Executive Director.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe generous support of our donors and fundraisers means our chaplains are able to offer a listening ear, a friendly chat, a shoulder to cry on, or a word of prayer to anyone who needs it.<\/p>\n

\u201cDonations from regular giving means we have guaranteed money coming in every month to continue to provide Railway Mission\u2019s services and help us plan for the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cPayroll giving enables you to help fund our chaplaincy team to support the railway family navigate life\u2019s journey every time you are paid.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor example, if you are a standard rate tax payer, donating \u00a310 a month only costs you \u00a38 because payroll giving donations are deducted before tax, so we receive more money at no extra cost to you.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s simple \u2013 Railway Mission receives a regular income and because your donation is tax-free it goes further and costs you less.\u201d<\/p>\n

First Group and Arriva employees can easily set up a payroll giving monthly donation via the Railway Mission website donate page. The page also has a link to email Network Rail\u2019s Charity Department which can help their staff with payroll giving.<\/p>\n

Employees of other rail companies and operators should contact their employer directly.<\/p>\n
