{"id":93989,"date":"2024-07-25T13:04:55","date_gmt":"2024-07-25T03:04:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=93989"},"modified":"2024-07-25T13:04:57","modified_gmt":"2024-07-25T03:04:57","slug":"new-croydon-station-opening-on-monday-12-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=93989","title":{"rendered":"New Croydon Station opening on Monday 12 August"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The new Croydon Station will open to passengers on&nbsp;<strong>Monday 12 August<\/strong>, featuring modern station facilities and access to both station platforms via lifts and stairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/news\/level-crossing-removal-project\/gone-for-good-lilydale-line-level-crossing-free\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the return of train services on the Lilydale Line<\/a>&nbsp;on Friday 5 July, crews have been working hard to get the station open as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new station was due to open in late July, however, works at the station are taking longer than expected due to continued heavy rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trains will continue running as normal, express through Croydon Station, on the Lilydale Line, which is now the first metropolitan rail line to be level crossing free \u2013 a year ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shuttle buses will continue to run in Croydon connecting train passengers to services at Ringwood East and Mooroolbark until the new Croydon Station opens.<br><br>Earlier this month we removed the dangerous and congested&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/projects\/level-crossing-removal-project\/projects\/coolstore-road-croydon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coolstore Road level crossing<\/a>&nbsp;and opened the new Kent Avenue to Lacey Street road connection, unifying Croydon\u2019s town centre and making it safer for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists to get around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Works will continue into spring to complete the new Croydon Transport Hub featuring a 14-bay bus interchange, as well as new road connections, and works around the new station precinct, including new station carparking, shared use paths and landscaping.<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/news\/level-crossing-removal-project\/new-croydon-station-opening-on-monday-12-august#\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new Croydon Station will open to passengers on&nbsp;Monday 12 August, featuring modern station facilities and access to both station platforms via lifts and stairs.
