Medlog, the logistics arm of shipping giant MSC, recently started building a new multimodal hub north of Paris for rail freight and barge services. The company claims that the facility, christened MEDLOG Inland Terminal Paris-Bruy\u00e8res, should be ready this year.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The new terminal is expected to remove a significant amount of vehicles from the roads in the area. Once it is built, long-distance services will be carried out via rail or inland waterways, namely the river Oise. Consequently, trucks will be needed only to provide first and last-mile links, MSC stated.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the new facility will allow MSC and its subsidiaries to provide services that are usually carried out in port terminals. These include \u201ccontainer maintenance and repair, liquid cargo solutions, project cargo and container reconditioning for food exports\u201d. The new terminal near Paris is also expected to boost rail and barge connectivity between France\u2019s largest port in Le Havre and north-west Europe.<\/p>\n
