Metro Trains says it is investigating what caused a signal outage that led to delays of up to an hour across the rail network early on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Metro reported just before 5am that it had suffered a \u201closs of signalling control\u201d, leaving trains unable to depart from stations across Melbourne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The failure was resolved about an hour later, but it caused delays of up to 60 minutes for early morning commuters. Flow-on delays of up to 15 minutes and cancellations continued through the morning peak period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Metro spokesperson said it was investigating what caused the signal outage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe thank passengers for their patience as crews worked quickly to resolve a signalling control issue this morning,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA big thank you to our public transport workers for working to return services to the normal timetable and supporting passengers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the past 12 months, Metro has operated 93 per cent of services on-time \u2013 just ahead of its 92 per cent target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
