extract<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DTP is set to deliver its implementation plan to the government on introducing the truck charge by next month.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Opposition ports and freight spokeswoman Roma Britnell called on the Labor government to \u201cimmediately rule out imposing a truck tax on the Port of Melbourne\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis ludicrous approach by Labor will raise the cost of freight on roads, costing Victorians more for goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cInstead of making rail more competitive by investing in it, this will simply make road freight more expensive and is no solution to Labor\u2019s long neglect of Victoria\u2019s rail freight network.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DTP brief states the rail rebate \u201cis temporary, with the intention of it being removed once growth of the PRS Network to commercially viable volumes has been facilitated\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/image-6.jpeg\" alt=\"Department of Transport and Planing briefing document - extract\" class=\"wp-image-8579\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/image-6.jpeg 1280w, https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/image-6-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/image-6-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/image-6-768x432.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Department of Transport and Planing briefing document &#8211;
