Two teenagers have been charged with starting a fire at a historic central Victorian railway station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police on Sunday charged a 17-year-old Bendigo girl and a 16-year-old Bendigo boy with burglary and criminal damage by fire over a January 31 blaze at Malmsbury Railway Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emergency services were called to Daylesford-Malmsbury Road about 5.45pm that day after reports the station master\u2019s residence was on fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malmsbury Fire Brigade said that 13 vehicles, including a ladder platform and heavy pumper from Bendigo were called to the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter breaking through the slate roof and dealing [with] the presence of asbestos, the crews were able to contain the fire to the old signal room and roof space to stop it spreading into adjoining original station master\u2019s residence,\u201d the brigade wrote online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crews extinguished the blaze and the fire was deemed to be suspicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both teenagers have been bailed to appear at a children\u2019s court at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
