Two islands. Roughly 4000 kilometres of rail track. One \u201cTrack Evaluation Car\u201d. (The capital letters are KiwiRail\u2019s, by the way. But with just one in the country, \u201cTrack Evaluation Car\u201d could probably insist on being called \u201cSir.\u201d)<\/p>\n
The consequence of Sir being broken was, as KiwiRail put it, somewhat coyly: \u201cTrains to and from Wellington will be running more slowly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Slowly, yes. And, also, not running at all.<\/p>\n
A \u201crapid review\u201d was ordered. (\u201cRapid\u201d being markedly at odds with the speed of Wellington\u2019s trains.)<\/p>\n
