construction blitz in Victoria&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/more-room-for-signalling-upgrades-in-gippsland\/\">Gippsland<\/a> region.<\/strong><span id=\"more-116812\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>New infrastructure between Pakenham and Drouin delivered as part of the Gippsland Line Upgrade was made ready for service in May and June while coaches replaced trains.<\/p>\n<p>More than 575 crew members worked a total of 85,000 hours, carrying out complex signalling work, safety testing and driver training.<\/p>\n<p>The new second platforms at Bunyip and Longwarry have improved journeys for passengers and provide V\/Line with more operational flexibility, boosting reliability.<\/p>\n<p>More than 4.2 kilometres of new rail, 6800 tonnes of ballast and 1830 concrete sleepers were installed to complete the duplicated track at the stations.<\/p>\n<p>At Bunyip,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carparks.vic.gov.au\/project\/bunyip-station-car-park\/\">30 new car parking spaces<\/a>\u00a0have opened, delivered as part of the Victorian Government\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carparks.vic.gov.au\/project\/bunyip-station-car-park\/\">Car Parks for Commuters<\/a>\u00a0program.<\/p>\n<p>It comes after the new elevated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/news\/level-crossing-removal-project\/accessing-the-new-pakenham-and-east-pakenham-stations\">Pakenham Station<\/a>\u00a0and brand-new East Pakenham Station delivered by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bigbuild.vic.gov.au\/projects\/level-crossing-removal-project\">Level Crossing Removal Project<\/a>\u00a0opened to passengers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ptv.vic.gov.au\/footer\/about-ptv\/improvements-and-projects\/train-and-rail\/new-station-at-east-pakenham\/\">East Pakenham Station<\/a>\u00a0improves reliability for metropolitan and regional train services by allowing Metro and V\/Line trains to cross over and bypass each other, minimising congestion and delays.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more about the\u00a0<a
