Daniel Andrews has engaged one of Australia\u2019s most expensive silks in a bid to keep secret his phone records<\/a> from the day of a near-fatal 2013 car crash with a teenage cyclist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philip Crutchfield KC \u2013 who charges up to $25,000 a day \u2013 will lead Mr Andrews\u2019 \u00adattempts to fight a Supreme Court subpoena. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hearing before Associate Justice Melissa Daly will be held on Monday morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

High-profile lawyer Leon Zwier, of major law firm \u00adArnold Bloch Leibler, is also representing the former premier and wife Catherine Andrews<\/a> in the marathon dispute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Andrews was slapped with a subpoena outside his Mulgrave home in March requiring him to produce a series of documents relating to the January 2013 day of the crash.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lawyers for Ryan Meuleman, who was 15 when he was struck by the Andrews family\u2019s SUV in Blairgowrie,<\/a> are seeking to establish who Mr Andrews spoke to \u2013 and when \u2013 amid concerns of interference after the collision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the Andrews\u2019 legal team will argue that the subpoena is \u201ca fishing expedition\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Brett Curran \u2013 Mr Andrews\u2019 chief of staff at the time of the incident \u2013 has declined to clarify if he received any calls from the then opposition leader from the crash scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
