The \u201cDam2Dam\u201d freight shuttle, which runs between the ports of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, is going to have its frequency doubled from 4 to 8 trips per week. Shippers can now also get subsidies for using the service.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>TMA Logistics, Emerio and the Port of Amsterdam cooperated in order to enable the expansion of the service between the two \u201cdams\u201d. The route was launched in January<\/a>. Specifically, shuttle trains run between Rotterdam\u2019s Maasvlakte II and the terminal of TMA Logistics in Westpoort, Amsterdam. The collaborating companies say that the expanded service can \u201ctake up to 40,000 TEU off the road.\u201d<\/p>\n

The agreement signed on 27 June also provides for the service\u2019s inclusion in the \u201cJoint Corridors Off-Road\u201d network. In practice, this means that shippers can now get subsidies for using the service.<\/p>\n

Robust, reliable and cost-efficient<\/h2>\n

\u201cIn this way, we want to connect many entrepreneurs as quickly as possible so that the intermodal network becomes more robust, reliable and cost-efficient. Transporters will never find themselves in a traffic jam again, it is cheaper in many cases and it is sustainable\u201d, says subsidy advisor Miranda Volker.<\/p>\n

Port of Amsterdam representative Maurice Delattre also commented on the expansion: \u201cWith this train connection, we are upping the speed and frequency of the service on the existing multimodal network between Amsterdam and Rotterdam. This initiative contributes to making transport between our ports sustainable.\u201d<\/p>\n
