{"id":7836,"date":"2024-02-02T00:36:58","date_gmt":"2024-02-01T14:36:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=7836"},"modified":"2024-02-02T00:36:58","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T14:36:58","slug":"obb-completes-acquisition-of-go-ahead-germany","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=7836","title":{"rendered":"\u00d6BB completes acquisition of Go-Ahead Germany"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTRIAN Federal Railways\u2019 (\u00d6BB) passenger subsidiary \u00d6BB-Passenger has completed the purchase of Go-Ahead Group\u2019s German rail business, Go-Ahead Germany, for an undisclosed amount.<\/p>\n<p>The deal was cleared by the European Commission (EC) under European Union (EU) merger regulations in January.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6BB had already announced its acquisition plans in October, when it confirmed that Go-Ahead Germany will continue to act as an independent company.<\/p>\n<p>Go-Ahead Germany currently holds five regional operating contracts in the south of the country. Three are in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg and two are in Bavaria, accounting for approximately 10 million train-km per year in each state.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6BB is hoping to use these contracts as a springboard to expand its operations in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>The purchase marks the complete withdrawal of Go-Ahead from the German rail market, though the company says that some trains will run with Go-Ahead branding for a short period of time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGo-Ahead continues to pursue opportunities for strategic expansion in both bus and rail in selected markets around the world,\u201d says Mr Miguel Parras, CEO of The Go-Ahead Group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to pay tribute to the dedication and professionalism of all our colleagues in Germany over the last five years.
