Recently, more than 500 industry professionals gathered to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day at a special breakfast event proudly sponsored by DT Infrastructure<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This event, hosted by the Queensland Major Contractors Association (QMCA), highlighted the significant contributions and achievements of women in the engineering sector.<\/p>\n

The breakfast featured inspiring speeches from industry leaders, including Sascha Kurz of Infrastructure Project Solutions, Lydia Gentle OAM of BHP and Sally Stannard, Director-General of the Department of Transport and Main Roads.<\/p>\n

Kimberley Whitehead, Area Manager for DT Infrastructure on the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication project<\/a>, was part of a panel discussion that took a deep dive into the barriers that face women to entering and progressing in the construction industry.<\/p>\n

Kimberly shared her experience building a successful career on major rail projects in Australia including the importance of mentorship and flexibility, particularly as it pertains to trusting your people to get the job done, regardless of whether or not they\u2019re working a more traditional 9-5.<\/p>\n

Commenting on why they chose to support this event, General Manager of Operations at DT Infrastructure and QMCA board member Tony Holmes said supporting this event aligns with our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the engineering and construction industry.<\/p>\n

“Hearing from accomplished women in engineering inspires future generations and helps pave the way for increased representation of women in this rewarding field.”<\/p>\n

As part of their sponsorship, DT Infrastructure partnered with Share the Dignity, a women\u2019s charity that works to make a real difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough. For every attendee at the event, DT Infrastructure donated a pack of period products to someone in need.<\/p>\n

DT Infrastructure is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where women and individuals from diverse backgrounds can thrive and succeed in the construction industry. This event underscored the importance of celebrating and promoting diversity every day.<\/p>\n
