{"id":757,"date":"2023-07-27T12:36:15","date_gmt":"2023-07-27T02:36:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?guid=f33a9e009c88c8425a262b4755acf866"},"modified":"2023-07-27T12:36:15","modified_gmt":"2023-07-27T02:36:15","slug":"auckland-may-get-halfway-to-its-2030-transport-emission-target","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=757","title":{"rendered":"Auckland may get halfway to its\u00a02030 transport emission target"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Auckland may get less than halfway to its\u00a02030 transport emission target, according to the head of the city\u2019s transport agency.<\/p>\n<p>Auckland Transport (AT)chief executive Dean Kimpton has told\u00a0*Stuff*\u00a0that on the current path, he thinks only about 40% of the\u00a0Transport Emissions Reduction Pathway (TERP) 2030 goals\u00a0would be achieved.<\/p>\n<p>Kimpton, who has been in the role for just over three months, also said he was unhappy AT had not done what the council asked \u2013 and come up with a\u00a0two-year quickstart plan on emmissions reduction.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with\u00a0*Stuff*, Kimpton highlighted the gap between the council\u2019s aspirations to cut emissions and what the agency believed was do-able with current, and foreseeable, funding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think we are going to\u00a0get there on our current trajectory,\u201d said Kimpton on the aim to halve driving by 2030.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Auckland may get less than halfway to its\u00a02030 transport emission target, according to the head of the city\u2019s transport agency.
