The number of people taking the bus in Nelson Tasman jumped by nearly 70% in the first month of the new service.<\/p>\n
On August 1 the\u00a0region\u2019s new eBus service\u00a0officially started, with more routes and buses every half hour between Richmond and Nelson between 7am and 7pm, seven days a week. New destinations include Wakefield, Motueka and the airport.<\/p>\n
Now, Nelson City Council reported 68,000 trips in the service\u2019s first month \u2013 an increase of 68% compared to the monthly average over the previous seven months on the old NBus service.<\/p>\n
Use had continued to grow through the month, with a 16% increase from week one to week four \u2013 an increase of 675 journeys a day.<\/p>\n
