The shocking moment a cyclist was hit by a passing freight train<\/a> as she posed next to the tracks for a selfie<\/a> has been caught on camera. In the footage, several women can be seen standing by the railway line with their bicycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the train approaches, they ready their phones to take selfies with it in the background. However, one woman stands too close to the tracks<\/a> and the train driver sounds the horn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the audible warning, the cyclist doesn\u2019t move and she is hit by the train and knocked to the ground. Her two mates then drag the woman \u2014 who miraculously survived \u2014 away from the tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat happened?\u201d one friend asks. Apparently conscious, the victim replies: \u201cIt hit me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCalm down, it\u2019s over now, breathe, breathe,\u201d the third woman says.<\/p>\n\n\n

The chaotic scenes were filmed in Uberaba, located between the Brazilian capital Bras\u00edlia and S\u00e3o Paulo. The cyclist was left with a broken rib and gash on her thigh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe recommend that people take extra care near the tracks,\u201d train operator VLI said in a statement. \u201cAlways maintain a safe distance as the train takes up more space than the track.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woman dies taking train selfie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The incident comes just days after another woman was killed by a vintage steam train as she took a selfie in front of it in Nopala de Villagr\u00e1n, Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The horror clip taken on Tuesday shows the victim, who is wearing an orange top, preparing to take a photo while standing near a child. As the train approaches, the youngster ducks down and the woman readies herself for the snap.<\/p>\n\n\n

She drops to one knee and the corner of the train engine hits her on the back of her head, sending her crashing forwards. Emergency services arrived on the scene, but they could only confirm the woman\u2019s death, as reported by NeedToKnow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Canadian Pacific 2816, better known as the \u2018Empress\u2019, is a steam locomotive built in 1930 for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Later that evening, the Canadian Pacific Kansas City company said in a statement that they regret the incident and are collaborating with the police to carry out a full investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authorities reminded residents that they should stand at least 10 metres from the tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
