A fatal collision between a passenger and a freight train in Czechia resulted in four passengers losing their lives and dozens being injured. The head-on collision occurred between a RegioJet and a CD Cargo train on the east of Prague, near Parduvice. The line where the accident occurred was not equipped with ETCS, which could have probably helped avoid the disaster.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>It should be noted that both train drivers remained unharmed, while the casualties unfortunately concerned passengers of the RegioJet train, which allegedly was transiting to Ukraine carrying approximately 300 travellers.<\/p>\n

For the record, the head-on collision occurred at around 11:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday, 5 June. By around 8:00 a.m. local time on Thursday, 6 June, the line was cleared of debris, and traffic was restored on one of the line\u2019s double tracks, mainly for passenger services.<\/p>\n

The causes of the fatal accident remain unclear, and an investigation is ongoing, with the Czech transport minister Martin Kupka commenting to local media that speculating about the causes of this accident is not a valuable approach.<\/p>\n
