The New South Wales government<\/a> has released its budget for 2024\/25 with a focus on delivering major infrastructure projects currently underway.<\/h4>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The government has committed $72.3 billion to deliver new and improved transport infrastructure across the state.<\/p>\n

An additional $1.0 billion has been invested in Sydney Metro City and Southwest to get this project back on track. The project is building, operating and maintaining a network of four metro lines, 46 stations and 113km of new metro rail.<\/p>\n

The government has committed $7.9 billion to deliver the Sydney Metro\u2013Western Sydney Airport, with six new stations to service the future Western Sydney International Airport over four years.<\/p>\n

$200.0 million has been reserved to expedite the planning for the procurement, construction, and delivery of Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 for Western Sydney.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 12 kilometre alignment will link the Parramatta CBD to Sydney Olympic Park via Camellia, Rydalmere, Ermington, Melrose Park and Wentworth Point with 14 new stops, three new river crossings and 8.5km of new walking and cycling paths.<\/p>\n

Passengers will be able to travel from Sydney Olympic Park to Camellia in around 30 minutes, and on to the Parramatta CBD in another 7 minutes.<\/p>\n

An additional $300.0 million to upgrade train station car parks and make stations more accessible through the installation of new lifts, ramps, and footbridges will occur across the network.<\/p>\n

Almost $450 million will be spent on extending the life of Sydney\u2019s Tangara passenger trains. The work is due to start early next year and be completed in late 2027.<\/p>\n

As part of that work, technology systems will be upgraded, onboard passenger information screens will be installed, and wheelchair accessibility and air conditioning will be improved.<\/div>\n

Daily, weekend and weekly Opal Card Travel Caps for adults, children, youths, and concession holders, and the $2.50 daily Gold Opal Cap for seniors and pensioners will also occur.<\/p>\n
