The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC<\/a>) will carry out essential maintenance and improvement works next weekend along the North Coast Line between Telarah and Acacia Ridge in Queensland.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To enable the works the line will be closed from 6:00am Saturday 8 June to 6:00pm Monday 10 June.<\/p>\n

Crews will be working right along the 800km train line, investing $6 million and more than 8,000 work hours in critical maintenance. This includes re-railing, track resurfacing, mudhole removal, structure repairs, level crossing maintenance and turnout upgrades.<\/p>\n

Other work includes vegetation control at multiple locations and track component replacement.<\/p>\n

ARTC is reminding motorists and pedestrians to remain vigilant for altered traffic conditions near the rail corridor and to obey all road rules at level crossings, with rail machinery and other movements still occurring on the rail line.<\/p>\n

Clinton Crump, Acting ARTC Group Executive, Operations explained the importance of this work.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe North Coast Line is an important part of the ARTC network, and regular maintenance ensures that this corridor will continue to operate as a vital part of the economic supply chain and provide travel connections to communities,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith no freight or passenger trains running in this period our crews will be able to complete structural inspections and other work that is not possible when trains are running.<\/p>\n

\u201cARTC would like to thank the community for its patience while these critical, long-term improvements take place.\u201d<\/p>\n
