The German intermodal operator CargoBeamer, which specialises in transporting semi-trailers on rail, is increasing the frequency of three of its services. The move is a response to \u201crising demand across all lines\u201d, the company tells RailFreight.com.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The three services service Germany, Italy and France. The expansion\u2019s \u201ccentrepiece\u201d is Kaldenkirchen (Germany)\u2013Domodossola (Italy): CargoBeamer now operates 22 weekly round-trips on this route. It is \u201cone of the most frequent intermodal rail connections in Europe\u201d, says CargoBeamer.<\/p>\n

Besides the popular Kaldenkirchen\u2013Domodossola route, CargoBeamer highlights its French domestic service. It runs between Calais and Perpignan, across the country on a north-south axis. The German intermodal operator has recently increased the frequency of operations on the route to 8 round-trips per week. That marks the second such increase in 2026 and a doubling compared to the start of the year.<\/p>\n

CargoBeamer sees that fact as \u201ca strong testament to the significant demand for scalable, reliable intermodal connections that are open to transporting both craneable and non-craneable semi-trailers.\u201d<\/p>\n

‘Higher frequency, more reliability’<\/h2>\n

Lastly, CargoBeamer has increased the frequency of its Kornwestheim (Stuttgart)\u2013Milan (Sacconago) service. The company launched this service in April in response to the discontinuation of the transalpine rolling highway. It now offers five weekly round-trips, whereas it previously did four.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that high-frequency routes are the key to unlocking the full potential of intermodal transport and have therefore increased the frequencies on three of our routes,\u201d commented Tilman Apitzsch, CCO of CargoBeamer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe more often a train runs on a given connection, the more it strengthens the reliability and schedule attractiveness of our routes, providing an even stronger offering for time-sensitive supply chains.
