The equipment will boost container handling efficiency and increase the yearly rail siding capacity to 1.2 million TEU.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-74808\"><\/span>The terminal in the Gda\u0144sk port now has six pieces of handling equipment for the rail sidings. They serve seven 750-metre tracks across a total of 5.25 kilometres of rail. An advanced Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system for automatic container number identification, an anti-collision system for the gantry crane, and 11 cameras on the two new RMG cranes will support operators during operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBaltic Hub consistently invests in advanced technological solutions and expands its operational facilities to strengthen nodal excellence, increase flexibility and adapt to evolving market requirements\u201d, commented Jan van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe deployment of two additional RMG cranes is another step towards this goal and expresses our support for the development of sustainable intermodal transport. The RMG cranes will play a key role in increasing the handling capacity of the rail siding to 1.2 million TEUs per year. Each of these investments strengthens Baltic Hub&#8217;s position as a key logistics hub in Central and Eastern Europe.\u201d The terminal handles nearly 800 trains per month.<\/p>\n<h2>Gda\u0144sk growth<\/h2>\n<p>The port of Gda\u0144sk is rapidly securing its spot among Europe\u2019s largest container ports. This is in big part thanks to the expansion efforts of Baltic Hub. In late 2025, the terminal completed a major expansion that boosted container capacity to 4.5 million TEU annually.
