On the night of 16 August 2026, the Sydney Swans defeated Essendon by 36 points at the MCG in round 23 of the AFL season, a result that locked in second place on the ladder and a home qualifying final for Sydney. The team stayed overnight at the Pullman Hotel on Wellington Parade in East Melbourne, near the ground.

In the early hours of Monday, 17 August, several players moved to one hotel room. Victoria Police later confirmed they were investigating a report of sexual assault made that morning, stating “the exact circumstances are yet to be established” and that the investigation remained ongoing. As of the most recent reporting, no charges have been filed and no one has been arrested or formally interviewed.

The Swans released a short statement around midday on 17 August confirming “several players were involved in an alleged incident in Melbourne last night” and that the club had notified the AFL and relevant authorities. The incident also delayed the AFL’s planned release of the 2026 All-Australian squad that evening.

By 18 August, the ABC reported four players — Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, James Jordon and Riley Bice — were linked to the investigation, with a fifth player also publicly connected but not confirmed to have spoken to police. Swans coach Dean Cox said he was “disappointed” by the incident, and the club said it had interviewed the players involved and determined they were in “serious breach” of expected club standards and behaviour.

On 19 August, the Swans announced five players — Riley Bice, Nick Blakey, Isaac Heeney, James Jordon and Chad Warner — would not be considered for selection for the remainder of the 2026 season. The AFL said it supported the club’s sanctions. The group became informally known in media coverage as the “Pullman Five.”

Victoria Police are reportedly on the verge of dropping the case against the Sydney Swans players after a bombshell secret recording completely flipped the narrative.

Here is what is allegedly going down behind closed doors.

It can now be revealed that:

A third woman reportedly arrived at the hotel room in the early hours armed with cocaine.

Once she realised she was in a room full of high profile AFL stars, things changed. Subsequent interactions were secretly taped in what is now being heavily characterised as a calculated extortion plot.

If these secret tapes hold up, the initial allegations are dead in the water, and the hunters become the hunted.

With Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, and James Jordon maintaining their absolute innocence from day one, the Victoria Police Sexual Crimes Squad is left holding a brief of evidence that is rapidly falling apart.

Riley Bice remains cleared as a witness.

The tables haven’t just turned, they’ve been completely flipped.

I have said from day one that this reeked of a setup.

The AFL and the Swans may owe the players and fans a huge apology.
