Rather than being based on planned services, the funds would be allocated according to actual operations carried out.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-74448\"><\/span>This was confirmed by a spokesperson from the German ministry of transport to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dvz.de\/unternehmen\/schiene\/detail\/news\/neue-richtlinie-fuer-einzelwagenfoerderung.html\"  rel=\"noopener\">DVZ<\/a>. The development comes three weeks after the government made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/railfreight\/2026\/08\/31\/germany-increases-single-wagonload-subsidies-by-e84-million\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">\u20ac84 million euros<\/a> available as single wagonload subsidies from a budget surplus, for a total of \u20ac384 million euros.<\/p>\n<h2>Less money next year<\/h2>\n<p>However, next year\u2019s package will be much lower, only \u20ac110 million according to the German media. Single wagonload transport is particularly important for Germany\u2019s chemical, steel and automotive sectors, making up 18% of the country\u2019s total rail freight industry. In addition to lower single wagonload subsidies, operators in Germany will have to rely on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/railfreight\/2026\/07\/08\/german-tac-subsidy-cuts-will-weaken-the-countrys-industrial-base\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">lower compensation for track access charges<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The German government is reportedly working on changing how single wagonload subsidies are being distributed.
