The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) (UK) has announced the appointment of Steven Bishop FCILT and Stephen Fidler OBE FCILT as vice-presidents, bringing extensive public and private sector experience to the Institute. CILT (UK) is the professional body representing professionals across logistics, supply chain, and transport.<\/p>\n
The appointments strengthen CILT (UK)\u2019s representation of the transport and logistics profession and its role in supporting members. Both Steven Bishop and Stephen Fidler bring extensive experience across transport, government, and the wider built environment, spanning policy, strategy, planning, infrastructure, and passenger transport.<\/p>\n
A transport planning and economic development professional, Steven has worked for more than two decades across the public and private sectors, working with government, operators, investors, academia, and local communities to integrate economic development, planning, and mobility. He is an active contributor to the profession, regularly speaking at industry events and aiding discussions on local and regional transport, sustainable growth and the wider role of transport. <\/p>\n
Steven Bishop is also director at Steer, an international consultancy specialising in infrastructure, cities, and transport advisory and planning.<\/p>\n
Commenting on his new role, he said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to take on the role of Vice President at CILT (UK), at a time when transport has such an important role in supporting economic growth, connecting communities, and assisting new homes and development.<\/p>\n
\u201cCILT (UK) has a crucial role in bringing different perspectives together, sharing knowledge and strengthening the professional expertise we need to adapt and grow<\/p>\n
\u201cI look forward to adding my experience and helping ensure our profession continues to make a strong contribution to the challenges and opportunities ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stephen Fidler is also the director of Local Passenger Transport & Inclusion at the Department for Transport (DfT). As a senior civil servant with more than 30 years\u2019 experience in transport across government. His previous roles include the No 10 Policy Unit and the then Department of the Environment, as well as senior positions within DfT. He is a fellow of CIHT and CILT (UK) and received an OBE for services to transport in the 2019 New Year Honours List.<\/p>\n
He commented said: \u201cI am hugely motivated by the difference transport can make for people and communities. It is a privilege to be invited to become one of the Vice-Presidents and play my part in supporting the Institute\u2019s vital work.<\/p>\n
