Poland\u2019s largest infrastructure project, Port Polska, formerly known as CPK, and the city of Kielce have signed a letter of intent to develop an intermodal freight terminal in Obice.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The site will cover 25ha. Potential destinations include the Benelux and Baltic states, as well as Ukraine and Asia, Port Polska said. \u201cThe terminal may also be important for handling cargo in the eastern direction, including trade with Ukraine and transport on routes connecting Europe with Asia,\u201d the company added.<\/p>\n

The facility will be strategically located between Warsaw and Krak\u00f3w, Poland\u2019s two largest cities. However, it is not yet clear how long construction will take or how much the terminal will cost.<\/p>\n

Port Polska\u2019s Centre for Transport and Mobility will work with the city of Kielce to analyse the investment\u2019s impact on existing transport infrastructure. \u201cThe final model for the terminal’s implementation, its financing, and the schedule will be determined in subsequent stages, based on the results of the analyses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Focus on passenger transport<\/h2>\n

Port Polska was rebranded from CPK (Centralny Port Komunikacyjny) at the end of 2025. The overall project is expected to cost around PLN 130 billion (\u20ac31 billion). Roughly one-third of the budget will go towards the construction of what will be Poland\u2019s largest airport. The remainder will be used to build the planned \u2018Y\u2019 high-speed rail network, linking Warsaw with \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, Pozna\u0144 and Wroc\u0142aw.<\/p>\n

So far, the plans for the airport and high-speed rail network have focused largely on passenger transport. The agreement with Kielce represents one of the first significant steps in Port Polska\u2019s development of logistics and freight services.<\/p>\n

Before the letter of intent, the area south of Warsaw was not included in Port Polska\u2019s plans. The proposed rail terminal would further expand the project\u2019s reach into freight and logistics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
