UAE-based logistics giant DP World will commence construction of the Tashkent Multimodal Logistics Terminal in October. The site will be located in the Yangi Avlod Special Industrial Zone, 42 kilometres from the Uzbek capital and will be able to handle 150,000 TEUs per year or 120 million tonnes of cargo.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The terminal, which will cost around $288 million (\u20ac248 million) will have connections to Uzbekistan\u2019s main railway and highway networks and a link to the airport, making it a truly multimodal site. The first phase of construction is expected to be completed over the next two years.<\/p>\n

The facility<\/a> will cover a surface of 820,000 square metres, including 63,000 square metres of warehousing space. This will be increased by 163,000 square metres in a second phase. DP World retains an 85% stake in the terminal, while the remaining 15% will be controlled by Tashkent Investment, a subsidiary of the city\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

Increasing interest in Tashkent<\/h2>\n

The capital of Uzbekistan is increasingly attracting investments similar to DP World\u2019s. Just this year, over \u20ac5 billion were invested in 2026 so far in Tashkent, the city\u2019s mayor Shavkat Umurzakov said in an interview with Uzbek media. This is more than twice the total investments in the city in 2024.<\/p>\n

The Yangi Avlod Special Industrial Zone was opened in 2024 and there are currently 22 projects planned for completion this year. In addition to DP World, the industrial zone is used by companies from all over the world, including China, USA and Japan, especially companies active in high-tech, logistics, and manufacturing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
