{"id":521885,"date":"2026-08-27T13:36:54","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T03:36:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=521885"},"modified":"2026-08-27T13:37:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T03:37:00","slug":"australian-ford-falcon-factory-to-become-a-data-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=521885","title":{"rendered":"Australian Ford Falcon factory to become a data centre"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ford&#8217;s famous Broadmeadows manufacturing site in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?tag=melbourne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Melbourne\">Melbourne<\/a> will become the location of a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?cat=12785\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Data Centre\">data centre<\/a> almost a decade after the automaker ended more than 90 years of producing cars in Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theurbandeveloper.com\/articles\/zerra-dc-campbellfield-melbourne-ford-assembly-factory-data-centre-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Urban Developer<\/em><\/a>, the site at 300-340 Barry Road in Campbellfield will be developed by Singapore-based <a href=\"https:\/\/zerradc.com\/projects\/340-barry-road\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Zerra DC.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A planning permit lodged by Zerra with the Victorian state government proposes a six-building data centre campus on the historic site, including office space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed campus is slated to comprise six buildings. Zerra DC, an investment firm AGP-owned company previously known as AGP DC, has a portfolio of data centre developments planned across India, Japan, and Australia, with a total secured capacity of 920MW in these regions and the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Zerra DC development is expected to exceed over 500MW of power for the series of developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having built cars in Geelong since 1925, Ford Australia opened the Broadmeadows plant in August 1959, before it introduced the first locally made Ford Falcon, codenamed
