LNER is preparing to welcome thousands of customers onboard its services for next month’s Great North Run with the announcement of extra train services. <\/p>\n
Runners and spectators travelling to the world’s biggest half marathon from destinations including Edinburgh Waverley, Durham, Darlington, Doncaster and Leeds will be able to take advantage of the additional services on the morning of Sunday 13 September 2026, helping customers arrive in Newcastle in time for the event. <\/p>\n
The extra services will supplement changes which came into effect in December 2025 which saw hourly services between Newcastle and London King’s Cross rise from two to three per hour in each direction, seven days a week. <\/p>\n
Several colleagues are also set to run the half-marathon in support of LNER charity partner CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). <\/p>\n
The additional train times are: <\/p>\n
