Pacific National<\/a>\u2019s managing director and CEO Paul Scurrah has announced his impending resignation from the freight rail company. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Pacific National leader will step away from his role on December 31 this year after joining the business in April 2021.<\/p>\n

Scurrah announced his resignation via LinkedIn, saying he embraced the challenge of navigating the business throughout COVID and stabilising Pacific National to be a \u201cmodern and progressive company\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation as the managing director and CEO of Pacific National effective December 31, 2024,\u201d Scurrah says.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision has not been an easy one for me, as leading this remarkable company has been a highlight of my career.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, after much reflection and considering, I\u2019ve come to the conclusion that it is the right time for me to hand over to a new CEO who can continue to build positive momentum and ensure Pacific National continues on its journey to realise its enormous potential.\u201d<\/p>\n

Upon reflecting on his time at the helm of the national freight rail operator, Scurrah says restoring customer confidence and establishing a culture that reflects the company\u2019s values have been highlights.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m proud to say that we have made great progress as a business and I take particular pride in the team that I have built around me. Their unwavering commitment and drive ensures we remain on the path to success,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

\u201cImportantly, we also strengthened our safety culture, which recently saw us champion a national awareness campaign on\u00a0 dangerous level crossings<\/a> while honouring our colleagues who tragically lost their lives when a truck collided with their train earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese endeavours have been captured by our PNA, a program that has been embraced by the whole company and become part of our everyday language.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Scurrah will step away from the business at the end of the year, he says there\u2019s still plenty to be done before he wraps up his time at Pacific National.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are still many things I intend to achieve between now and December and the team and I are focused on those tasks,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very excited by the prospects of what we can achieve in 2024 and I look forward to working with all of you on this.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am extremely grateful to the board and shareholders of Pacific National and to our loyal customer base. I feel privilege to have led the wonderful PacNat people and appreciate the contribution each member of the team makes. Your commitment to the PNA has been something I have watched with pride.<\/p>\n
