Railroading Heritage of Midwest America began selling tickets Thursday for <\/span>an excursion behind Canadian Pacific H1b 4-6-4 2816 slated for June 29.<\/span><\/a> The run over Iowa Interstate next month would be the first chance the public has had to ride behind the locomotive in more than a decade.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The trip is being sponsored by RRHMA \u2014 the non-profit that took over the former Rock Island shops in Silvis, Ill., and is <\/span>now restoring two Union Pacific steam locomotives<\/span><\/a> \u2014 and Central States Steam Preservation Association. The trip will run between Silvis and Bureau Jct., Ill., over the former Rock Island main.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CP 2816 departed Calgary on April 26<\/span><\/a>, for a tri-nation tour of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico to celebrate the merger of CP and Kansas City Southern to create CPKC. The locomotive was originally expected to be back in Canada by the end of June, but the schedule is now being adjusted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The June 29 excursion will feature a mix of streamlined ex-UP cars from the RRHMA fleet and open-window heavyweights from Iowa Interstate. Fares are $149 for adults and $89 for children in the streamlined cars, and $129 for adults and $79 for children in the open window cars. <\/span>Tickets can be purchased online<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
