{"id":51555,"date":"2024-07-13T11:43:35","date_gmt":"2024-07-13T01:43:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=51555"},"modified":"2024-07-13T11:43:37","modified_gmt":"2024-07-13T01:43:37","slug":"drivers-eye-view-healesville-to-the-tunnel-153hp-walker-railmotor-may-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=51555","title":{"rendered":"Drivers eye view, Healesville to The Tunnel, 153HP Walker railmotor, May 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Healesville&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rail_transport\">railway line<\/a><\/strong>, in Melbourne, Australia, was the non-electrified continuation of the suburban&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lilydale_railway_line\">Lilydale line<\/a>, extending into the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yarra_Valley\">Yarra Valley<\/a>. The line closed in the 1980s, but a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Heritage_railway\">heritage railway<\/a>&nbsp;group, the Yarra Valley Railway, is working to retain part of the line between&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yarra_Glen,_Victoria\">Yarra Glen<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Healesville,_Victoria\">Healesville<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travel with the train driver as we travel from Healesville station to the Tunnel on the Yarra Valley Tourist railway. This is as far as the train can travel at the moment as the track further on is undergoing a major rebuild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Drivers eye view, Healesville to The Tunnel, 153HP Walker railmotor, May 2024\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/j4t3pOmf_30?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly another outer Melbourne line closed and removed wiping out transport options for Melbourne&#8217;s growing outer East.  This line was also closed by the Victorian Labor Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The line itself passed through the very popular Yarra Valley Victoria&#8217;s version of the Barossa Valley.
