Network Rail<\/a> is investing over \u00a36 million to improve future journeys on the West Coast main line between London Euston and Stafford from Saturday 25 May to Monday 27 May.<\/p>\n

Upgrades in Milton Keynes and Stafford on Network Rail\u2019s West Coast South route have been planned so that Euston station will remain open throughout the Spring bank holiday weekend allowing passengers to travel between London, the Midlands and the North West.<\/p>\n

The essential upgrades include:<\/p>\n

Replacing over 3.5km of track on the West Coast main line in Stafford and Milton Keynes to improve the resilience of the railway and provide more reliable journeys for passengers and freight services.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Passengers travelling further north are being advised about\u00a0major changes to journeys through Crewe and between Preston and Scotland due to railway upgrades happening at Crewe station and in Cumbria.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

During the work people may have to change trains, have longer journeys and in some cases passengers will need to use rail replacement buses.<\/p>\n

Train services will also be busier than usual over the bank holiday weekend due to a number of events scheduled, in particular on Saturday 25 May with the FA Cup final taking place in Wembley.<\/p>\n

Gary Walsh, Network Rail\u2019s West Coast South Route Director, said:\u00a0\u201cWe have made some great progress on major railway improvements over Easter and the early May bank holiday which will help to make journeys on the West Coast main line more reliable.<\/p>\n
