{"id":5046,"date":"2024-01-25T14:36:43","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T04:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=5046"},"modified":"2024-01-25T14:36:43","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T04:36:43","slug":"crosscountry-customers-urged-to-plan-ahead-of-industrial-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=5046","title":{"rendered":"CrossCountry customers urged to plan ahead of industrial action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk\/\">CrossCountry<\/a> customers are being warned of travel disruption due to planned industrial action by the ASLEF union between Monday 29 January and Tuesday 6 February.<\/p>\n<p>A nine-day overtime ban for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk\/\">CrossCountry<\/a> drivers belonging to the <a href=\"https:\/\/aslef.org.uk\/\">ASLEF<\/a> union may mean short-notice changes or cancellations to train services during this period.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday 5 February, no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk\/\">CrossCountry<\/a> services will operate during a one-day strike by the <a href=\"https:\/\/aslef.org.uk\/\">ASLEF<\/a> union.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday 31 January, planned strike action at other train operators is likely to lead to significantly busier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk\/\">CrossCountry<\/a> services between Birmingham and Edinburgh via Leeds.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, planned strikes on Saturday 3 February will affect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westmidlandsrailway.co.uk\/\">West Midlands Trains,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk\/\">Avanti West Coast,<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastmidlandsrailway.co.uk\/\"> East Midlands Railway<\/a> \u2013 meaning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk\/\">CrossCountry<\/a> services between Manchester and Reading via the West Midlands are likely to be very busy.<\/p>\n<p>Planned engineering work will also affect journeys between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton, between Exeter St David\u2019s and Bristol Temple Meads, as well as between Leeds, York and Newcastle on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 February. Journeys may take longer than usual and rail replacement buses may be in operation on some routes.<\/p>\n<p>Customers are being advised to only travel if essential and leave more time for their journey. Services on Saturday 3 February are expected to be significantly busier than usual and queueing systems may be in place for customers at some stations.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Goodall, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk\/\">CrossCountry\u2019s<\/a> Service Delivery Director, said:\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re sorry to customers impacted by this latest round of industrial action. While we\u2019re working hard to run as many services as possible over these days, there is likely to be significant disruption for people planning to travel \u2013 especially on Saturday 3 February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d ask customers to check their whole journey before setting off, especially if travelling later in the day.
