The upgrades at Marshall Station<\/a> have taken another step towards completion, with the new accessible pedestrian overpass now in place.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 100-tonne overpass was lifted into position by a 650-tonne crane on Thursday the 16th of May, with the structure stretching 40-metres across the rail line.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The overpass will provide\u202fa link to the new second platform that is currently under construction, with work continuing on the ramps, lifts and stairs to make the overpass fully accessible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The overpass frame was assembled from more than 100 structural pieces after arriving on site in February, with crews completing work on roofing, cladding, drainage and forming the concrete base before installation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Work on the new station building, car park and bus loop at Marshall is also progressing, with the upgrades to provide an enclosed waiting room for passengers for the first time.<\/p>\n

The Geelong Line upgrade will see three stations upgraded at Waurn Ponds, Marshall and South Geelong. Two level crossings will be removed at Fyans street and the Surf Coast Highway and eight kilometres of track will be laid to duplicate the track between Waurn Ponds and South Geelong.<\/p>\n

The upgrades will provide over 500 new car parks and will ensure five extra services during peak periods will be available and three per hour between peak periods.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
