{"id":483663,"date":"2026-07-21T01:23:56","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T15:23:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=196552"},"modified":"2026-07-21T01:23:56","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T15:23:56","slug":"essential-track-renewals-on-the-crouch-valley-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=483663","title":{"rendered":"Essential track renewals on the Crouch Valley line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/rail-projects\/essential-track-renewals-on-the-crouch-valley-line\/\" title=\"Essential track renewals on the Crouch Valley line\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/20162247\/Track-replacement-in-action_cropped-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/20162247\/Track-replacement-in-action_cropped-485x360.jpg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/20162247\/Track-replacement-in-action_cropped-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Network Rail will replace 50 plus year old rails and sleepers between Battlesbridge and Southminster during a seven day programme of essential renewals in August, helping to maintain a safe, reliable and comfortable railway for passengers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Customers planning to use Greater Anglia services from Saturday 22 August to Friday 28 August 2026 are being encouraged to check before they travel and to leave extra time to complete their journeys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Track replacement work will take place along the Crouch Valley line, including significant maintenance of the railway and stations while the line is closed:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inspecting and maintaining railway infrastructure between Wickford and Southminster, including bridges, overhead line equipment and signalling systems, to help keep train services safe and reliable.<\/li>\n<li>Improving drainage along the route to reduce the risk of flooding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clearing vegetation to minimise delays caused by overgrown trees and plants which can create a risk to the safe operation of the railway.<\/li>\n<li>Replacing ageing buffer stops at Southminster station to improve safety at the end of the railway line.<\/li>\n<li>Repairing part of the platform at Burnham-on-Crouch station, helping to maintain a safe and reliable station environment for passengers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rail replacement buses will operate between Wickford and Southminster from Saturday 22 August 2026 to&nbsp;Friday 28 August 2026 from the following locations:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wickford:\u00a0Outside the front of the station.<\/li>\n<li>South Woodham Ferrers:\u00a0Hulbridge Road.<\/li>\n<li>North Fambridge:\u00a0Fambridge Road, at the junction with station approach.<\/li>\n<li>Althorne:\u00a0Fords of Althorne forecourt.<\/li>\n<li>Burnham-on-Crouch:\u00a0Station car park.<\/li>\n<li>Southminster:\u00a0Station forecourt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>\u00a0Customers wishing to use Battlesbridge station should use the nearest alternative station as rail replacement buses will not operate from Battlesbridge<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Joe Kennedy, infrastructure director for Network Rail Anglia said:&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8220;This essential work will help keep trains running safely and reliably on the Crouch Valley line for years to come.
