class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ScotRail and Network Rail Scotland are ready to support the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games which get underway this week, helping athletes, volunteers, spectators, and staff travel to and from venues across the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout the Games, the train operator will add 1,452 additional carriages to services, providing more seats on key routes serving the competition venues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, Network Rail station, engineering and operations teams, who have undertaken six months of readiness work, have resourced up across the period to ensure the network can respond to expected demand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around 3,000 athletes from 74 countries will compete across 10 sports over 11 days of competition, with thousands of spectators expected to travel by rail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games begin with the opening ceremony on Thursday, 23 July and run until Sunday, 2 August, with competitions taking place at venues including the Glasgow International Arena, Scotstoun Stadium, Tollcross International Swimming Centre, and the Scottish Event Campus (SEC).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To support the increased demand, ScotRail will operate additional services calling at Dalmarnock, Exhibition Centre, and Scotstounhill, alongside extra evening services to help customers travel home after events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additional ScotRail staff will be on hand across the network to provide travel information and help customers reach venues safely and with confidence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Customers travelling during the Games are encouraged to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plan their journey before travelling.<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared for the weather.<\/li>\n<li>Buy tickets before boarding where ticket-buying facilities are available.<\/li>\n<li>Allow extra time for their journey.<\/li>\n<li>Check the latest travel information before setting off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Travel information and venue
