Siemens Mobility and its partners have celebrated the graduation of the latest cohort from the DFN Project SEARCH supported internship programme at Goole Rail Village, marking a second successful year of helping young people with SEND prepare for meaningful employment.<\/p>\n

Aglaja Schneider, joint CEO and managing director of Rolling Stock and Customer Services, Siemens Mobility UK&I, said: “Celebrating the graduation of our second DFN Project SEARCH cohort is a proud moment for Siemens Mobility and our partners. Throughout the year, these young people have shown tremendous commitment, developing valuable skills, confidence and experience while making a positive contribution across our Goole Rail Village.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delivered in partnership with DFN Project SEARCH, Selby College (part of the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group) and learning disability charity Hft, the programme gives young people the opportunity to develop workplace skills, build confidence, and gain hands-on experience in a real working environment.<\/p>\n

Over the past academic year, interns have completed placements across a range of functions \u2013 including manufacturing, warehousing, administration, facilities management and operational support \u2013 guided by dedicated job coaches, education specialists and Siemens Mobility employee mentors.<\/p>\n

The programme is a key part of Siemens Mobility’s commitment to creating local opportunities and building a more inclusive workforce as it continues to invest in rail manufacturing in East Yorkshire.<\/p>\n

Aglaja continued: “The continued success of the programme demonstrates what can be achieved when businesses, education providers and specialist support organisations work together to create meaningful opportunities. We are delighted to be welcoming a third cohort in September as we continue our commitment to building a more inclusive workforce and helping more young people take the next step into employment.”<\/p>\n

Kirsty Matthews, DFN Project SEARCH CEO, commented: “This year, over 1,400 young people have taken part in the DFN Project SEARCH internship programme across the country. At Goole Rail Village, the success of the programme shows what can happen when the right partners come together to create an environment where young people can genuinely grow and thrive. Two years in, the results speak for themselves, and we’re excited to see a third cohort get started in September.”<\/p>\n
