ScotRail recorded more than seven million passenger journeys in June as demand for rail travel continues to grow, with customers attending major events and destinations across the country.<\/p>\n

The train operator recorded 7,069,000 passenger journeys during the four-week period, an increase of 378,000 journeys (6 per cent) compared with the same period last year.<\/p>\n

The growth follows a busy start to Scotland’s summer events season, with ScotRail helping customers travel to concerts, festivals, and sporting events across the country. <\/p>\n

During June, the operator supported major events including TRNSMT, Take That at Barclays Hampden, Zach Bryan at Scottish Gas Murrayfield, and the Summer Sessions in Glasgow\u2019s Bellahouston Park, alongside thousands of customers making leisure journeys to Scotland’s towns, cities, and visitor attractions.<\/p>\n

The latest figures build on the success of last summer and continue the positive trend in passenger growth, with more people choosing rail to travel to events and explore Scotland.<\/p>\n

With the Commonwealth Games set to get underway later this month, the Edinburgh Festivals kicking off, and sell-out concerts at Murrayfield and Hampden, ScotRail is expecting millions of customers to travel with ScotRail in the weeks ahead. <\/p>\n

Mark Ilderton, ScotRail service delivery director, said: “It’s encouraging to see more than seven million passenger journeys in June, with 6% more people choosing ScotRail than during the same period last year.<\/p>\n

“Summer is always one of our busiest times of the year, and it’s great that so many customers are choosing the train to get to concerts, festivals, and destinations across the country.<\/p>\n

“The weeks ahead promise to be a busy time for the railway as we support travel for the Commonwealth Games, the Edinburgh Festivals, and a packed programme of events across Scotland. <\/p>\n
